Update on Veronika
You may have seen our story about Veronika, a stray who came into one of our partner shelters and needed our help. With a life-threatening injury to her neck, the SAFE Care Clinic team had to act fast and after two procedures, Veronika is on the mend and. now on the adoption floor! We’re grateful for everyone who has donated so far to help us cover the expenses of her surgery, treatment, and ongoing care. If you haven’t donated yet, you can still help!
The Purrfect Weather
We’re excited to announce that we’ve been chosen as the CBS 17 3° Guarantee partner for July! Every day this month, CBS 17 is pledging $50 to SAFE Haven when their next day high-temperature forecast is accurate within 3°! Even better news – Michael & Son Home Services is matching the donations. Stay tuned to the early evening newscast throughout the month to hear all about us. We can’t wait to see how accurate they can be!
Beat the Heat
Summer means hot weather, especially here in NC! Here are a few tips to help your kitty through the hottest time of the year.
- Keep fresh water out. To help keep your cat hydrated, make sure you keep accessible, clean water around so that they have plenty of options for drinking.
- Don’t leave your furry friend in the car. Did you know that even when it’s in the 80s outside, the inside of your car can reach 100+ degrees? Even if you’re planning to be quick, it’s better to leave your cat at home when running errands.
- Try the Frozen Tuna Challenge. Freeze a little tuna into an ice cube for a cool treat.
- Brush them. In addition to keeping them gorgeous, brushing can help remove excess fur, meaning a cooler kitty.
- Create some shade. Recycle a cardboard box by turning it on its side to make a cool, dark hideaway for your cat to relax in and beat the heat!
