Hurricane Helene Relief
As North Carolina begins the long recovery process from the damage brought by Hurricane Helene to the western part of our state, we want to lift up opportunities to help our neighbors and their pets.

    • Be an emergency foster with Forsyth Humane Society.
    • Donate supplies to the Johnston County Supply Drive.
    • Drop off supplies at Raleigh United Mutual Aid collection spots.

Visit our blog post for additional information about each of the opportunities.

Meow-a-Ween
Join us for a spookily fun time at our Meow-A-Ween on October 28 from 4 –6 pm. Bring your kids (under 12) to get treats from stations around SAFE Haven, color with the kitties, take a tour of the shelter and get to meet our cats, and show off your a-MEOW-zing costumes during the costume parade. You can also bring special treats for the cats! Learn more and RSVP.

Bring (Plushie) Lenni Home
You can bring home your very own Lenni! Emily Foster of Alpacasews created this adorable plushie of our favorite senior Bengal. The best part – a portion of the proceeds from the entire Shelter Cats line will support SAFE Haven’s work! Pre-orders are open now so place yours now.

A-MEOW-zing Volunteers
This month, we’re celebrating our SAFE Haven volunteers! From cleaning out cat cages to representing SAFE Haven at events to fostering, volunteers make a huge difference for our mission. Last year, 850 volunteers lent their paws and hearts for an amazing 161,957 hours! You can join them! We’re always looking for fresh faces to join our volunteer team. Here are just a few ways you can help make a difference for the cats.

Black Cat Month
October is Black Cat Awareness Month. They often see lower adoption rates than other cats so now’s the time to share the facts, not fictions. Here are three facts you can share:

    • Black cats may have better disease resistance.
    • While superstitions make some people believe that black cats are unlucky, did you know that some cultures believe black cats to be a sign of luck.
    • Because of the melanin black cats produce, it’s common for black cats to have yellow or gold eyes.

Come See Us at HollyFest!
SAFE Haven will be at HollyFest on Saturday, October 26. This family-friendly event celebrates Holly Springs and all the people, places, and services that the community has to offer. Danyea will be there from 10 am – 4 pm sharing SAFE Haven’s work. Stop by and say hello!
