The Cat Chronicle – February 2022

Betty White Would Be Proud

On January 17, what would have been Betty White’s 100th birthday, we asked you to support our cats and kittens during the #BettyWhiteChallenge. And boy, did you! We surpassed our goals by over $10,000! Thank you to everyone who donated and for sharing why helping SAFE Haven kitties means so much to you.

How Can You Be a Part of the TCB?

Looking to be more involved with the 2022 Tuxedo Cat Ball? Here are two ways to do more:

  • Sponsors help make the ball possible and save lives. This is a great investment opportunity for your business. DYK Sponsors will get online recognition and anywhere from one reserved seat to multiple reserved tables? Learn why you should pick out your sponsorship level now.
  • Your donated auction items mean we can offer even more lifesaving services to our community. If you have a fun, luxurious new item, consider donating it to our live auction, which is always a highlight of our evening! Click here to learn what we’re looking for and fill out the form to donate an item.

Don’t forget – the early bird ticket deadline is March 11 so get your tickets now and save!

Your Vote Counted

When we were told we were finalists for two categories on the 2021 WRAL Voter’s Choice Awards, we didn’t expect to win BOTH! Thanks to your vote and support, we were named Best Volunteer Organization AND Best nonprofit Organization. Thank you to everyone who voted and most of all, thank you to everyone in the SAFE Haven community that helps us save cats and kittens every day. We couldn’t do it without you!

Auction Items Needed

One of the most exciting parts of Tuxedo Cat Ball? Our auction! With both silent and live auctions, we’re able to raise a lot of money to help our cats. From themed baskets to experiences, we have something for everyone. If you’d like to donate an auction item, all you have to do is fill out the form here. We appreciate your help in making the 17th annual Tuxedo Cat Ball a success!

Winter Tips

Wintry weather can be hard for humans, but it’s also hard for cats in the community. Here are a few tips to help keep kitties healthy during cold months:

  • If you leave food out for stray cats, leave a little more than you normally do. Cats need extra energy to stay warm and extra food can help them conserve it.
  • While you’re staying inside and warm, use your arts and crafts talents to make DIY feral cat shelters that give cats a safe, warm place to stay. Here’s an easy tutorial to follow.
  • Check under your car’s hood and around your tires before driving – cats sometimes curl up in engines to stay warm!

Looking Forward

We have a lot of great things planned for 2022 and we hope you’ll join us for all of them! How can you learn what’s happening? Follow us on Facebook, check our Events calendar regularly and continue reading the Cat Chronicle!
