About SAFE Haven for Cats

From our humble beginnings in 1994 in a two-car garage to present day operating in a 10,800 square foot facility, you’ve been with us through change and growth that has always brought us closer to our shared goal: to end euthanasia of cats and kittens due to overpopulation.

Here are a few of our favorite accomplishments from the past year:

• We found loving homes for 1,332 cats and kittens, with our Shelter having an average of one adoption every 45 minutes we were open!
• We sterilized 7,930 cats and dogs in our SAFE Care Clinic, and broke our own record by performing 70 spay / neuter surgeries in just one day!
• We served 46 counties across North Carolina.
• We distributed 16,957 pounds of donated food through our Pet Food Pantry, helping keep people and their pets together in financially challenging circumstances.
• Our clinic administered 12,650 vaccines to cats and dogs through every day services and pop-up vaccine clinics!
• We trapped, neutered, and safely released 2,908 feral cats.
• We had 602 new volunteers join our community to help with everything from fostering to shelter cleaning to filing clinic paperwork!
